Jan 20, 2018 · I does depend on the year of your car, and it only applies for s-tronic. B8 models (pre-2012 facelift) had a redline of nearly 7K, but the B8.5 had that reduced to just over 6K. A gearbox remap will raise the redline to nearly 7.5K. So for a B8 the gearbox remap will raise the peak power by about 10PS, but for a B8.5 this could be around 20PS.

I actually think the B8 is exceedingly dated. Much of what VW and Audi did from 2008 to 2012 or so has not aged well, IMO. Conversely, I think the B8.5 may have some chance, though I don't imagine any run-of-the-mill modern Audi, save for some R8 variant, perhaps, will appreciate. Design-wise, I'd put the B5 and the MkI TT against anything.
Jun 28, 2014 · The B8 was a more aligned to the theme of an Audi S4. B6 has a great sound thanks to the v8 but it was fragile, with the timing chain and those sh!tty plastic chain guides and engine seals that would leak like a sieve. Fuel economy was wretched. The B6 seemed like they were trying to cram 10 pounds of power into a 5 pound bag.
Oct 19, 2020 · Keeping track of your the age and condition of your oil is an essential part of owning an Audi B8/B8.5 with the 4.2 L V8 engine like the Audi S5. The oil’s job is to keep everything inside the engine lubricated and happy. As the oil is used, its lubricating properties fade, leading to increased wear on the engine components. Best advice, don't ask this question on any of the b8/8.5 s4 facebook groups. It's a mess on there. There are two companies that actively still research and develop for our car, Integrated Engineering and 034 Motorsports. APR is a great tuner, I've used them on other cars, but the other two have really latched onto the 3.0t and specialized in it.

Jun 10, 2012 · None of these things are worth a pinch of shit in a performance sedan that is meant to be driven. Stock B8 vs stock B8.5 on a road course = ZERO difference. The only appreciable mechanical difference is the crown gear center diff and I have yet to get an explanation of any real world advantage.
Jun 17, 2013 · Its different for the B8 vs the B8.5 but on paper (removing the buyers confirmation bias) it isn't worth it. The peak gain is 19awhp, but the average gain is about 13 across the band Daily Car 2018 S5 SB - P+ - Nav - Sport - VMR801 - JB4 Map 2
May 19, 2022 · Definitely worth it. I have a 2016 B8.5 (CREC) S5. You should gain about 90 bhp with S1 and no hardware changes. You should also consider getting the gearbox TCU remapped to make the most of the S1 ECU map. NJNGg.
